This game speaks so very much about the coaching style of Dawn Staley, her care for her players, and her commitment to their personal and basketball development. After scoring 12 points in a good game against Maryland, Tessa Jonhson missed the next three games due to injury. She came back against Noth Carolina, and in 9 minutes attempted no shots and committed two turnovers. Against Duke she missed two shots and grabbed one rebound in less than 5 minutes. So, in their next game Maestro Staley puts Tessa in the starting line-up, plus gives her 26 minutes of court time. That was Tessa's first time leading the team in scoring. The next 2 times Tessa led the team in scoring was the Elite 8 victory over Oregon State, and the championship game against Iowa. Hats off to you coach Staley, God knows, you can't get game experience or self-confidence sitting on the bench. A lot has been spoken about your benching of Milaysia Fulwiley in the North Carolina game, and the positive effect it had on her going forward. But I want to recognize the undeserved favor you sometimes bestow upon your players, encouraging both their attitudes, self-confidence, and their performances on the court. God bless you, Coach!

At 45:40 Raven Johnson shows how good of a Pg she is. Most girls would have panicked and picked up their dribble. Instead she got the beautiful assist.

17:59 if the UConn players would’ve stayed closer to Aaliyah they might’ve still been able to keep the ball but they all ran towards the other end before the shot even touched the rim. Aaliyah was alone tryna catch that rebound. That’s something they need to work on. Never leave your teammates behind 😭 especially when the team your playing is SC
